• Appointed by the Commodore.
  • Reports directly to Vice Commodore. Works with other bridge officers and committee chairs and communicates with membership.
  • Responsible for juniors’ boating program. May solicit and assign a committee chair and is responsible for the chair activities.
  • Establishes classes for regattas. Evaluates radio-controlled boats for regattas and recommends to membership. Coordinates purchasing and parts for fleet.
  • Creates calendar for regatta activities. Follows up with membership and other committees to incorporate boating activity into LGYC events.
  • Oversees race program and activities. Trains members in regatta activities and administration.
  • Provides inventory and maintenance of regatta gear. Recommends and purchases such gear as necessary for the conduct of LGYC boating activities.
  • Coordinates regatta activities with other clubs. The Fleet Captain is the promotional and liaison staff with other yachting and model boating clubs.
  • Develops and maintains trophies consistent with regatta activities.
  • Provides assistance to and training of members in boat activities. Solicits members for their assistance in the introduction and instruction in boating.
  • Promotes boating-related activities among membership. Encourages bridge and committee chairs to incorporate boating-related events and publicity.
  • Maintains community outreach in boating activities and events. Develops venues and activities for other community groups to introduce and promote boating within the mountain communities.
  • Assigns and oversees committee chairs. The Fleet Captain is encouraged to develop members’ expertise in boating and regatta activities as well as the junior programs by soliciting and assigning members to these responsibilities and activities.
  • Creates and maintains records and documents for the position. Develops notes and instructional materials for future Captains and assistants.
