A Club Built on Wind, Water and Good Company

The club engages in three main activities.

Sailing: LGYC offers sailing on Lake Gregory. This includes full-sized crewed dinghies, primarily the Lido 14 fleet, and radio-controlled (RC) model boats including RC Lasers and DragonFlite 95s.

Social Events: Beyond the water, the club fosters an active social scene for its members. We host monthly get-togethers, beach barbecues, holiday parties, and coordinate multi-day group travel excursions.

Community Service: The club is deeply embedded in the Crestline community. Members regularly volunteer for local charity events, and donate their time and resources to mountain organizations.

No. Most members start without one and many never get one. Members share club boats, lend gear, and are glad to teach you the basics. Come to the lake and someone will get you sailing.

Annual dues run from $90 for a non-resident individual up to $420 for a mountain-resident household, with discounted rates for members under 41, plus a one-time $50 initiation fee. You apply on this page, and dues are paid by Zelle once your application is approved.

RC sailing is captaining real sailboats in miniature, steered by radio from shore. Same wind, same tactics, and you (almost) never get wet. The club's official RC class is the RC Laser, and we also sail the DragonFlite 95 (DF95) and V32.

RC skippers meet at a dedicated Model Boat Area on Lake Gregory at the Lake Gregory Regional Park in Crestline, up in the San Bernardino Mountains. The radio-controlled sailing area is by the south parking lot.

RC sailing takes place on Thursdays at noon throughout the summer. LGYC also hosts the annual Midwinter Invitational Regatta on Lake Gregory.

Yes. Members enjoy teaching newcomers of every age and there are several club boats members can borrow to learn with.

The club hosts both "open sailing friendlies" where skippers gather to chase each other and practice, as well as official "points" regattas where scores are tracked over a racing series.

Both. Alongside the RC fleet, members sail crewed Lido 14 dinghies. Four club Lido 14s are available exclusively for members to use at any time.

Absolutely. The Lido 14 community within the club focuses heavily on camaraderie and introducing people to the sport. Experienced members are always willing to train beginners or just take them for a ride.

Members of the club meet for dinghy sailing on Fridays at 11am throughout the summer. Members can also take a boat out anytime they want. The club Lido sailboats must be hauled out of the water for the winter usually mid to late October until launched again in late April.

Dinghy sailors meet on the docks at the boathouse on the north shore of the Lake Gregory Regional Park in Crestline.

Any member can sail the Lido 14s. Before a club member uses a club Lido, they MUST sail with one of the fleet captains so that they understand the process for using the boat (retrieving it from mooring, rigging, etc.) and what their responsibilities are with regard to reservations and caring for the boats.

LGYC is a volunteer organization; therefore members taking advantage of sailing the full-sized boats are collectively expected to contribute their time and effort toward their upkeep and maintenance, including participation in launching the boats at the beginning of the season, regular "work parties" to repair and maintain the boats, and pulling the boats out of the water at the end of the season.

LGYC has four Lido 14 sailboats on moorings on the lake. There is no charge to use them but a reservation is helpful. The lake is County-owned and operated by the Lake Gregory Company. There are parking and admission fees, and there is a fee for using your own watercraft on the lake.

The Lido 14 sailboats are available but should be reserved through the LGYC Fleet Captain.

LGYC maintains an active monthly social calendar. Regular events include member-hosted get togethers, potlucks, and barbecues. The club also coordinates localized group activities, weekend excursions, and an annual multi-day travel trip for members.

Yes, community service is a big part of the club. LGYC is highly involved in the Crestline and surrounding mountain communities. Members regularly volunteer at local fundraisers, donate directly to local organizations, and offer free RC sailing instruction to youth groups like the Boys and Girls Club.

Crestline Community Cleanups: Club members routinely organize and participate in volunteer workdays to pick up litter and keep the mountain region pristine.

CalTrans Adopt-A-Road Sponsorship: To protect the local ecosystem and prevent trash from reaching the water, LGYC officially sponsors a highly visible section of Lake Drive around Lake Gregory.

Local Civic Partnerships: As an active member of the Crestline Chamber of Commerce, the club provides volunteer support, manpower, and financial donations to various civic fundraisers and seasonal events like Jamboree Days.
